Comment Re:Victory over innocence (Score 1) 112

The thing that really gets me going is seeing all of my friends fall prey to the same thing that drove other 'big companies' to stardom. A rebel company, a 'different' look; break the trend, try this hot new brand. You won't look like the shmoe next to you... ...caveat emptor: soon they will look just like you and take away that cool new identity. Don't give identity thieves another reason to pursue you. Corporate America owns you (even me at times although I fight boldly). Take back control of your lives. No matter how successfully they've earned your trust, fooled you into thinking theirs is better than theirs, trust that The Goal of every company is profit alone - their identity, not yours.

Comment Gaming hardware = PC or console (Score 1) 417

How close are consoles to PCs already? My take is... pretty close. "PC" gaming won't die until there are keyboards controlling console games. We're close to that already. The games don't yet leverage all of the keys, but they could. Also, all modern video output from both consoles and PCs are HDMI. The "console" is basically a PC already, too, but restricts user control over hardware upgrades. It does provides some control - choice of video output, wireless NIC add-ons, HDD upgrades, USB ports for wireless peripherals. All network settings are configurable for both. Once hardware out-performs personal demands (given 1 PC per person), the PC and the console will be indiscernible.
