The battery technology is nowhere close. Even if solid state batteries are a real thing, there is not the chargers to charge them in 15 minutes. Battery weight and charging time is just too much of a burden for a shipping vehicle to be profitable for shipping. This is how it will be until there is a huge game changer in the market. In the mean time, I don't want my electricity bill to be going up to support the infrastructure. I heat my home with electricity and have no choice. It is a necessity for me.

Then It will be interesting to see how often the batteries need replacement. That is the part that is still mostly to come. I would assume that Riven put the very best most durable batteries in there though. Also, if they can only be on the road 75% of the time and they have to charge 25% of the time then you are only buying 75% of a truck if you think about it from Amazon's perspective. Also, I hope when Amazon starts doing this in my area that they eat all the cost of these upgrades. I don't use AI, I don't use an EV. I don't want to pay for any of this as part of my electricity bill. And once third party charging stations have that hit on their electricity bill, filling on the highway will soon be as expensive as gas. It doesn't scale.

In North America an EV is on average 50% more than its ICE counterpart. Also, used ICE vehicles are plentiful; you can buy a good one for $7K or so. Interest rates are high. No one is thinking down the road, they're thinking about the loan payments.

EVs just create a bigger problem with China instead. Furthermore, I'm not saying that we should sit on our hands with regards to global warming, but I knew about GHGs since I read kids books in the 70's. All that time I have been convinced that the capitalist system is the best system to provide for the needs of people and just let the market do the work. So I'm waiting for a replacement for ICEs that will be as convenient or more convenient and not ask me to break my bank account through modifying my home and running cables under my driveway. Why do they need the outlawing of the competition in order to sell if they are super awesome?
