This is not something that couldn't have been physically done without 3D printing, however it was not economical. Most car parts can be substantially improved if you don't mind a car costing $400,000 instead of $40,000. It is nice seeing 3D printing becoming affordable enough to include in car parts, even if they are luxury car parts.
The problem is they helped create the crisis. They are spending the money because they are afraid if they do nothing, the gov, state local or federal, will step in and force them to pay the full price or more of the crisis they helped create. Doing so would be much more expensive than giving a token payment like this. This is an investment to them to stop legislation or regulations that would cost much more.
Can someone explain to me why? even 480 bpm, an insane tempo, is only 1/480 hz. Or over 1,000,000 clock cycles on even a standard CPU. Even if you say you need timing accuracy to 0.001 ms, this is still very trivial? Why do you need anything beyond a smart phone app for a metronome
No, there are three options. The third is to decide as a society not being able to access things even with a valid warrant is not more important than securing encryption for all legal uses.
This is no different than requiring someone to tell the police the combination to a lock, which is something the courts have said is in violation of the 5th. The difference is now the police use to be able to simply obtain a warrant and cut the lock off and access the contents. However, that is no longer possible so they are trying to remove rights so they can still get access to what they want.
Cops aren't trained like soldiers. Soldiers have MUCH more training, and STRICT rules of engagement. The cops are just playing soldier with no real training.
It does actually. The companies who have ample cash to weather this storm should be the ones to survive and dominate the market in the post covid era. This is no different than taco bell in Demolition man.
Not only does it require physical access, it requires tools computers and lots of stuff you aren't hauling with you to attack a laptop. This isn't a plug in a malicious thunderbolt dongle and it magically unlocks like some sort of spy movie. It requires taking apart the laptop, which if you have this much control, you have control of the system with numerous methods.
I think what you are missing isn't introducing additional capacity, it is just increase the cost of the existing capacity. Which you seem to agree the existing capacity of service delivery is essential. When you can't get one of the time slots now, how are you going to get a time slot when they decrease the capacity?
At what point does this become price gouging? Making it so only the rich can afford a necessary service doesn't seem right. If you have covid-19, this is an essential service as you can't go out to the store.
Dont' get me wrong, I understand supply and demand and all that, however price gouging laws are specifically in place to prevent supply/demand curves cutting off the poor to essential services.
