I read this and thought.. "what does CORBA, let alone Java, have to do with healthcare costs?"

If they are travelling from Alaska they can stop between Hyder and Smithers and plug into the rear of some random moose. In all seriousness tho there are stretches of that Hi-way where there is nothing but trees. As for houses you have the old draft dodgers that took their trailers up there and squatted on random land -- so now you have trailers that have been added on to with more trailers and even attached to mobile homes (quite odd indeed to see). But, still no power.

I would hate to see what would happen if that care struck a Northern BC Moose.

They are missing a fairly dirty job in IT... Help Desk / Service Desk / Catch All Desk / fix it its not working desk..... Spend a year here and see what you think of your sanity and cleanliness after. Most of these people wouldn't know about network problems or pr0n infesting spyware unless the Help Desk dealt with it first.

Submission + - Shaw Canada to offer 1000Mbps (www.shaw.ca)

This is an exciting step for most Canadians who are familiar with the tragic speeds available for home internet use. For additional information you can check out this article

What does the agreement look like that the students / parents signed when the devices were loaned? Is there any fine print about monitoring the device for safety or that there are measures in place to check on the safety of the device etc etc etc.... not to undermine the seriousness of the situation as i'd be seriously peeved if someone had turned on the webcam / microphone etc on my kids loaner laptop.

So what happens when you get a fraction of a 30 atom thick splinter from this crap in your finger? or worse all over your body? I don't even want to imagine what would happen if the surface were to shatter or splinter.
