So, you made a mobile knockoff (looks identical, has hell=nether, skeletons, dragon) of a hit game and you are now mad because you have to compete with the mobile release + pirated version of the original? Maybe you should have written an original game to start with? In the first sentence of the description on your website you say

This is a game like Minecraft with an RPG spin

Why would anyone looking for a mobile version of minecraft prefer your knockoff over the original?

There is an entire team of developers making a living off of minecraft. The pocket edition alone is raking in money hand over fist and would easily support a full dev team on its own. It's interesting how you blame piracy of minecraft PE for loss of sales. It doesn't seem to be hurting the original authors at all. Minecraft also started on the PC which has about 10x the piracy rate of android and has raked in millions in sales before it was even released. I don't play minecraft myself, my kid does. I tried out a half dozen knockoff demos (I don't pirate) before the PE version came out, might have even tried yours. He wasn't interested in the slightest. "That's just a rip-off", he would say. I imagine that the majority of the people who pirate your game end up doing the same.

If you want to make a living off a game, try doing something original. I don't think you are evil for doing a knockoff but even my 8 year old recognizes that it is pretty lame. It looks like you put in a lot of work trying to profit off of someone elses success. Now, you are mad that others also want things for free. You seem competent enough as a programmer. You should use the experience you've gained and create something of your own.

That should make most people happy and stop most abusive behaviour. The neighbors who want to surf pron will get frustrated and give up and any sites they do view should use minimal bandwidth.

No, in general they were Christian. They even made up their own version that got rid of the jewish parts: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Positive_Christianity

Like many modern Christians who are into astrology etc. they mixed in other, sometime pagan beliefs. You could argue that some/all of them were using religion to promote another agenda but you could say the same thing about some modern Christians (e.g. televangelists/politicians).

Your vast knowledge of greek literature (or alternately the AD&D monster manual) does not apply here. The term just means the animal has two distinct genetic pools.

The original article specifies that: The chimeric monkeys were born after the researchers essentially glued cells from separate rhesus monkey embryos together. http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2012-01/cp-wfc010412.php

Slow down there Sparky... Are you telling me that more than one person can play WoW at the same time? That it's... some kind of multi-player game? This changes things.

No. He's saying a single player can have multiple accounts/simultaneously active characters. People often do this to avoid the multi-player aspect of the game. It allows them to run content a single player can't handle without having to group with anyone.

More recently, the buckeye tree, namesake of a certain powerhouse football team in Ohio, has had its range shifted northward due to warming, so that the team's home town is now barely within the trees range, and won't be within it at all in another decade or two.

I assume you are referring to:

http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2008-09-12-3324435158_x.htm

which states:
The coalition doesn't have any evidence that the buckeye's range has been pushed north but says global warming threatens to make that happen. and Lytle said healthy adult buckeye trees can tolerate a wide climate range, although seedlings are more sensitive. Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan could eventually give buckeye trees a more comfortable habitat.

So, basically... There is no evidence the range has shifted at all. It may shift in the future but the existing trees are not likely to be threatened.

I'm not a denier. I am convinced the science behind AGW is basically true because I have examined the evidence to the best of my ability not because I had a "revelation". I'm in favour of taking reasonable and effective action to reduce CO2.

I don't believe you were trying to intentionally mislead anyone but there are too many sensationalistic articles out there that basically follow the template: *Global warming causes X... We're all going to die! * note: global warming has not been found to cause X

But but but...how is the situation when the HDD has multiple platters? Assuming that this 1.5TB disk has 3 x 500GB platters, wouldn't short-stroke like that mean that the whole disk area is used, but only one platter? Or is the data interleaved across platters?

The data is interleaved across the platters. If you look at the access times Tom's hardware got from short-stroking, you can see that they drop considerably. This is because the head moves over a much shorter range.

Comment Re:Adaptec Hybrid RAID (Score 1) 61

Short-stroking is restricting a HD to the outer area of the disk which is higher performance. This also makes access times better since the max distance the head has to travel is shorter. The capacity of the drive is decreased significantly depending on how much you restrict the area e.g. 1 TB > 100 GB might cut access times by 50% and bring your minimum and average transfer rates close to your max rate.

Tom's hardware article here: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/short-stroking-hdd,2157.html

This was more viable when HDs were dirt cheap. I don't think you would want to do it in a hybrid setup since the point is to get capacity + speed. If you just want speed, use the SSD on it's own.

I think initially they would probably just clone one animal and sell it to zoos across the world. Setting up a prehistoric park that mimics the animal's natural habitat makes for a good story but there is no economic advantage. Antarctic's First Plane, Found In Ice 110

Arvisp writes "In 1912 Australian explorer Douglas Mawson planned to fly over the southern pole. His lost plane has now been found. The plane – the first off the Vickers production line in Britain – was built in 1911, only eight years after the Wright brothers executed the first powered flight. For the past three years, a team of Australian explorers has been engaged in a fruitless search for the aircraft, last seen in 1975. Then on Friday, a carpenter with the team, Mark Farrell, struck gold: wandering along the icy shore near the team's camp, he noticed large fragments of metal sitting among the rocks, just a few inches beneath the water."
