It depends. a dipole in your apartment/condo is just fine at QRP power levels. if you plan on transmitting at 1000 watts, well things will get really exciting for you.

I have a 10 Meter dipole ran at the peak of my house in the attic, works great for the directions I want to talk.

Everything else I use a current Loop antenna that is smaller and easily turned. or if I am portable when camping I use a BuddiPole/BuddiStick setup. Those also work indoors, but again, if you are at 100 watts or higher, RF feedback and RF exposure to yourself get's really wacky. I have seen guys fry their own gear when running 500 watts on an antenna that was only 30 feet away from themselves due to induction.

A lot of hams claim that more power is good. It's not. 5 Watts QRP you can easily talk around the world on. and it's a lot easier to do in an apartment/condo setting.

Add PSK31 digital mode into the mix and suddenly you are talking to people barely above the noise floor 1500 miles away.

I am a ham radio operator, I have a significantly higher chance of survival than the rest.

If people really cared about safety they would take the time to learn CPR, basic First Aid, and things like ham radio or gain knowlege in how to increase their odds.

Dancing with the stars and Americas got Talent are far more important to the general population.

Feeling safe is the most important thing to them. Help me feel safe Government! Bad people are allowed to buy electronics without a license! Bad people can build things! They must be TERRORISTS!

Save us from the people that have an IQ above 100 oh holy government!

Dumb people want security Smart people want freedom.

All Cybersecurity guys I know will not tolerate testosterone fueled chain of command bullshit that is the backbone of the US military.

Exactly how do they think they will control and indoctrinate these people? Most are smart enough to know that most of the problems are CAUSED by the United States, and when ordered to do something unethical, they will say "go to hell"

So I am guessing threats of imprisonment is their motivator?

If they are anything like their previous product, very limited, and not useable.

We tried to use the goggle setup they have sold for years. They sucked, the Dev kit was horrid, and the goggle device was buggy as hell.

Maybe by the 5th generation they will get them right and not so small use but open so that anything can be installed.

do we call assholes "researchers"? This guy is nothing but a grandstanding asshole. You dont make comments like that and you dont do the FUD slinging that he does after getting denied.

Researchers do real work and publish their findings for peer review, not act like a street cred seeking HAx0r trolling for Lulz.

It's the same for all the hype over car systems. EVERY SINGLE EXAMPLE they have to install hardware to get access to the data interface.

So yes Terrorists can take over the airplane from their cellphones if the flight crew let them into the maintenance areas and help them install several specialized devices that give them access.

The terrorists need to make appointments so they can make sure that avionics technicians are on hand to help them
