I still run a late 2007 15" MBP with 6GB of memory and OS X 10.11. Itâ(TM)s ok for web browsing, email and Office 2011 (yep, Office 365 donâ(TM)t really offer anything new). I used Lightroom 3 - 5 on it back in the day and VMWare Fusion running Windows 7.

Chrome is definitely a pig though. I havenâ(TM)t touched it with a barge pole for years, but my wife uses it on this Mac.

And modern music is no exception. Some songwriters have more of a way with words. "Around The World" is one extreme to great effect - it's a neat song. Then there's song verses like:

Dive bar on the East Side, where you at?
Phone lights up my nightstand in the black
Come here, you can meet me in the back
Dark jeans and your Nikes, look at you
Oh damn, never seen that color blue
Just think of the fun things we could do...

You Know Who at her (IMHO) best. The notion that the only good music was performed in the 1970s by men with guitars is, at best, circular reasoning. De-valuing Taytay's music because her music and persona appeal primarily to women is nothing more than misogyny.

Sure, but shouldn't the US government be in the business of protecting the quality of life of all Americans, not just auto workers?

What about outsourcing of software jobs to India, for example, something that people on Slashdot ought to care about if they are hoping to work in the software field.

How can a US citizen, with a US cost of living, compete with someone with an Indian cost of living?

Personally, I think our government should be concerned about people not corporate profits, and should make it illegal for US-based companies to not use US-based labor, but at minimum if they are going to allow outsourcing they please afford us IT workers the same protection as being suggested for US workers, and don't allow foreign countries to take US jobs by effectively using their lower cost of living as a subsidy.
