This is true. Some "Software Engineers" do write code, but few "Software Developers / Coders" are "Software Engineers." If this confuses anyone see this article: https://www.computersciencedeg... So please do not refer to "Software Engineers" who have an advanced degree in Computer Science as "Software Developers / Coders" as this is not correct. Thanks, and have a nice day.

...I worked in the mobile industry for years, for many cellular manufacturers, programming mobile devices, and testing them for on-boarding with the carriers. The one thing that seemed to be a standard across the board with most Chinese manufacturers, I won't name names due to non-disclosure agreements, is that location services was turned on in the EPROM whether it was off in the UI or not. So, Chinese devices failed location services tests almost every time, and the carrier would send the device back. The "bug" would be fixed, tested with QXDM or other diagnostic tools, and then submitted as fixed. Then when the next version of software was put out the "bug" would be back, and it would have to be fixed again. This was never the case with Japanese, Korean, or American manufacturers...only the Chinese manufacturers. For this reason I won't buy cellular devices manufactured in China. If I turn my location services off I want them off period! If they are doing that with LBS think what they are probably doing with the rest of the data on your device. Credit Card info, Banking info, personal data, etc. nothing is safe...or as safe as it can be in this world.

Me too! As an avid boater I don't appreciate the possibility of being put in danger because some prankster caused the development of a system like this. If I am stuck on the water, in danger, I want the coast guard to come to my rescue. I definitely don't want them wasting time trying to determine if I am an actual boater in distress or a prankster. When a boat is sinking or on fire time is of the essence!!

The article is addressing Ringback tones specifically not songs someone put on an answering machine. Ringback tones were a feature that was offered by carriers in the late 90's and early 2000's You paid $1 - $3 for the song of your choice to play on the caller's end when someone called you instead of the standard sound.

That my friend is the difference between you, and I (the peons) and the CEOs of the world. The driven continue to be driven, not just by money, but by their desire to create, innovate, and sometimes destroy. While the rest of us are only motivated by money. Not to compare Rock stars to CEOs, but there is the same sort of creative, and innovative spirit involved. Look at David Bowie, he was on his death bed, ridden with cancer, but instead of sulking in self pity he finished his final album only days before dying. That is the difference between us, and the innovators of the world that are motivated by sheer willpower, and creativity, not just money.

Waaaa, we can't come up with anything new so we keep regurgitating the same crap over and over again, or spit out remake after remake! What do you expect to happen Hollywood? Eventually consumers are going to get tired of watching Pirates of the Caribbean XVI, or the latest remake of some classic movie! Oh, and don't get me started on Transformers XXXI or whatever number this next stupid Michael Bay flop is. Of the last three movies I watched, two were from Marvel Studio, and the third was a Quentin Tarantino movie (Hateful Eight which I saw in 70mm the way it was intended!) The sad part is eventually The Last Movie Frontier (Comics) will run out, and then Hollywood will run dry. You can't pick Stan Lee's brain forever...I mean eventually the poor bloke is going to die! Long story short my advice to you Hollywood is: Hire some new fucking writers who's ideas don't involve remaking cult classics or making another squeal, and if you can't do that then PISS OFF! We can find other ways to entertain ourselves...books perhaps...love the smell of a good, leather-bound, book!

...it really depends on so many variables that there is no accurate answer. For example I am currently a T-Mobile customer, and have been for several years. Their service, for me, was very good until about four years ago. Then about four years ago my usage, and coverage area changed. I used to use my service mainly in major metropolitan areas, and T-Mobile is great in those types of areas. However, the minute you are anywhere out of the ordinary T-Mobile's service goes down the toilet. Four years ago a couple of things changed for me: My parents retired, and became part owners of a resort. I also bought a boat around the same time. These details are important because whenever I am on my boat or at the resort I have no service. This brings me to my next point which is anytime I see someone using their phone at the resort or on the water I ask them what carrier they use. The answer is almost always Verizon, and if it is not it's AT&T. Not a single person has ever answered that question with T-Mobile or Sprint. Nor has anyone ever said Cricket, Boost, Freedom Pop, etc. Just my opinion whatever that's worth.
