Comment This is why we need to look out there (Score 1) 30

Some folks think that we know everything about the laws of physics, and what might exist out in the universe. This is an example of an extremely cool phenomenon that I don't think anyone would have expected, or really even dreamed of before we saw it ourselves. We don't know the smallest percentage about what is out there. We need to keep looking, seeking, exploring.

Seems like my newsfeed has had tons of articles about how ChatGPT is going to take my job, everyone else's job, etc. It is a very impressive product, don't get me wrong. But the hype is insane. Remember when companies could inflate their value by just adding 'BlockChain' to the company name?

Been a while, but I basically remember quarks being the basic building blocks of protons and neutrons. 6 types of quarks:
top, bottom, strange, charm, up, down. (Not sure why up and down AND top and bottom). But the above just describes some new particles made up of these things. I guess there are antiquarks too. If I recall correctly, protons and neutrons contain 3 quarks generally.

This is just saying there are some particles that contain 4 or 5 quarks. I don't think it's too hard to parse the sentence above, given this.

I'm not so sure about that. There have been Star Wars parodies for years, including the video Troops (cops parody) https://www.youtube.com/watch?.... This was actually hosted at starwars.com. I don't know that Lucas sued everyone for everything. Although I think they did try to take down the Phantom Edit, a 'better' version of Phantom Menace, though that was kind of the whole film. So I don't know.

I would kind of expect Disney to be more aggressive about stuff like this, but I am glad that they are trying to hire the person.

I remember reading at one point the national archives have to keep anything that has been sent out from his @realDonaldTrump account. (As opposed to the official POTUS trump account.). If he gets banned or his account deleted, will this be available for the archives to use?

Submission + - New Chinese Browser Offers a Glimpse Beyond the Great Firewall -- With Caveats (techcrunch.com)

An anonymous reader writes: China now has a tool that lets users access YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google, and other internet services that have otherwise long been banned in the country. Called Tuber, the mobile browser recently debuted on China’s third-party Android stores, with an iOS launch in the pipeline. The landing page of the app features a scrolling feed of YouTube videos, with tabs at the bottom that allow users to visit other mainstream Western internet services.

While some celebrate the app as an unprecedented “opening up” of the Chinese internet, others quickly noticed the browser comes with a veil of censorship. YouTube queries for politically sensitive keywords such as “Tiananmen” and “Xi Jinping” returned no results on the app, according to tests done by TechCrunch. Using the app also comes with liabilities. Registration requires a Chinese phone number, which is tied to a person’s real identity. The platform could suspend users’ accounts and share their data “with the relevant authorities” if they “actively watch or share” content that breaches the constitution, endangers national security and sovereignty, spreads rumors, disrupts social orders, or violates other local laws, according to the app’s terms of service.

Comment Executive Order? (Score 1) 294

Wouldn't this need to be an actual law? I understand some executive orders, such as how government departments can be run (at least at the federal level) and POTENTIALLY emergency measures such as pandemic prevention but the executive is supposed to enforce the law, not create it. Is this legal? It would be a simple matter to bring before the legislature.
