Comment Re: SpaceX (Score 0, Offtopic) 186

This upsets me - SpaceX is very likely THE SINGLE LARGEST COMPANY in the world - it will be when it goes public. NASA and the US Government is truly afraid of the power/leverage SpaceX has on them. Biden or any of his admin won't even *acknowledge* Tesla by name even though it's the largest car company in the world by market cap. It's because the old guard ('big 3' - now medium 2 and one really ugly one used to be Chrysler) are freaked the hell out. THey're all basically going bankrupt when it comes time to pay severance and make their employee pensions whole before firing a large chunk of them because EVs are fewer parts, don't need transmission plants, engine plants, assembly plants, parts supplied from lower tiers... The big 3 are easily several years away from being able to produce a half decent EV at volume. Meanwhile Tesla is going to sell so many Model Y vehicles it'll be the largest selling car of all time. Literally it's peak car. The Model Y is an astounding vehicle. They'll be cranking out 4Million or more per year of these incredible vehicles, before GM sells anything. Before Ford sells anything. And well who the hell knows what Starvaris is doing. So there is some massive politics being played about this. Elon should rightly tell Biden and his idiotic team to screw off we're taking SpaceX Elsewhere. Word is Elon's been looking for space port land and car manufacturing land in Asia (Indonesia among other places) where he can get more favourable tems and the government, you know, appreciates how he's changed the world many times over already.

Comment I have to say the Taiwan situation is frustrating (Score 1) 641

When China essentially blocks countries from being a part of the WHO that's a game changer to me. China should be in it, and a main player since they're the most populous country, but Taiwan should also be in it and so someone needs a good swift kick in the ass there.

Comment IT helpdesk experience just now (Score 1) 76

So I just had to call my helpdesk because I'm having problems logging in. One of the requirements for a solid IT department is staffing it with 1)competent people who can 2) speak the same language as the callers at some level - and it doesn't have to be awesome - I'm talking low hurdle here. I couldn't understand this guy at all. I speak English, and some French since i'm in Canada and my mom's french. I had no idea what this guy was saying. Frustrating as hell.

Comment Screamers. (Score 1) 893

It's about a group of people surviving a rather apocalyptic situation where the 'robots' they created to win a war they were fighting ended up basically destroying humans on the planet and also learned to self-evolve. I somehow saw it in the theatre. It was a bit alt .... but certainly very unique. In fact I need to watch it again.

Comment I was a skeptic but the logic is sound (Score 1) 362

I laughed it off the first time I read about the Neuralink project - this is a moonshot from Elon - but it's interesting. I'm still a skeptic - but some interesting things could result from the work. The Waitbuywhy.com guy convinced me a year or so back that it was at least an interesting thing for a guy with a lot of cash laying around to strive for. Comment Re:Cue the feminists (Score 1, Troll) 566

It's easy to drop feminism and feminists into the same category as treehugger and right-to-lifers because of the fanatic element. There are people who wake up every day and hate well off white men simply because they're well off white men with no effort to understand the point of how they got to be where they were. They give the movement a bad name.
