Submission + - The Elephant in the /. Room? (theregister.co.uk)

bbsguru writes: So, after a couple of days deprived of my hourly /. news fix, I figured the very first story to appear would be an explanation of the outage... And this is how I find out? Come on, Slashdot: how much of this Register article is accurate, and does it account for the absence of our favorite news site?

This scam involves allowing cover for foreigners who are granted US investment dollars. How does this create more jobs vs if the money was given to US citizens and legal residents who would start businesses and create jobs?

If you think about it logically, the net initial jobs created should be the same, but the net wealth that remains in the US will be greater with the removal of this policy.

Anything pushed through last minute by an administration should be suspect. If this was such an awesome idea, why did it take be so long to get started? If it was such an awesome idea why wasn't it published and spoken about more? Why weren't Americans given time to consider it and provide feedback?

When you look at it, it seems like a backdoor way for rich people to toss some cash to friends from outside the country and allow them to remain in the US.

This is the part where your progressive default response is "You're such a racist!"

Your comment has so many incorrect points that I'm not sure where to begin. But the fact that MS didn't start as an OS company is probably the biggest. MS started as a developer tools and language provider for various hardware. Google or BING "Altair Basic".

Your problem isn't what you don't know, the problem is how much you know ... that isn't so.

An honest question, why does Google drop bugs about MS at or before 90 days, while giving Apple 1+ year to fix bugs in past. I'm arguing what position Google should take, but rather suggesting Google be uniform in the standard they apply to everyone. Whatever they do regarding OS X, iOS or the Linux kernel should be the same way they treat Windows and vis versa.

I don't want government regulating guns at all. I don't want government regulation on business or wages or environment or healthcare. I want don't want federal income taxes, let's get rid of that amendment. I think electoral college protects minority interests, whereas popular vote BS would be mob rule. I only want federal government to secure borders (put military there instead of Irag or Germany) and deliver mail. I'm a libertarian.

So do you consider the World Series Champions based on who wins 4 games or who scores more runs in the series? Because that is pretty much your argument in this election. You are trying to justify the outcome you prefer using different rules than those accepted when the season started.
