In Europe where I live there arent that many public chargers. Certainly the big rows of 100s of tisla super chargers are unheard of. Most towns have a couple of chargers at best. Most of these will be 22kW and realistically most cars will only charge at 7.4kw from those. They are expensive too, 50-75c/kwh. Most people don't really use public chargers unless they are far from home

First they "killed us with kindness" to reduce the popularity of torrenting with cheap and plentiful streaming. Now for about 10 years they have been hiking up the prices and imposing DRM where there was none before. Google, who used to be our friend with their "do no evil" has also been busy creating Widevine DRM for us and the much-hated "trusted computing" movement that everyone was scared of in the early 2000's also eventually got what they wanted.

Could a lot of it not be offload to a peer to peer network? I dont mind running a process that eats up some storage & bandwidth on a raspberry pi or VPS.

Nowadays that wife is happy enough spending her days in a tiny 1 bedroom apartment eating nutella from the jar while watching netflix.

What prevents the 2 cylinders crashing together? During start up for example. The cyinder rollers and the curved surface they roll on will incur a lot of wear. The cylinder bearings would have to be very strong. As soon as you have play in that you have a big problem since the cylinders will be banging into the curved plate with every power stroke
