Fascinating. I activated parental controls on my daughters iPad, and she could no longer use Roblox. Why? The app is rated "12+", so apparently is inappropriate for young children. But all her friends play, so I know it's marketed to young children. This is inappropriate.

I would not expect it to crash because of its legalization, for it is essentially legal and easy to get for most of the population. But if it were *deregulated* the price would crash for it's nothing but a plant.

Wireless telephones from 20 years ago were 900MHz. The range of a Panasonic phone I had was awesome. I could walk across the street to a park on the other side of my apartment complexand get good reception. The higher frequency "upgrade" I got barely worked well on different floors in the same house.

I was happily using Wayland on Debian stable for almost a year, then COVID required me to teach classes in Zoom everyday, which is not supported in Wayland. I switched to X.org and everything just works. I don't have anything personal against Wayland, but if I abandoned X.org I would have to abandon Linux altogether.

Quoting the bcachefs web page: "Snapshot implementation has been started, but snapshots are by far the most complex of the remaining features to implement - it's going to be quite awhile before I can dedicate enough time to finishing them, but I'm very much looking forward to showing off what it'll be able to do." (emphasis added)

Perhaps this information is old, but it is on the front page, so merging this in the kernel "Real Soon Now" without support for snapshots (and more crucially, without the equivalent of btrfs send/receive) is not going to make people switch. This is somewhat surprising, because I always thought snapshots on CoW filesystems were gotten for free.

Encryption looks really good, though, if they get it right.

The first programming language for most students should be mathematics--basic arithmetic and algebra. All other workarounds just fail miserably, but it is culturally cool to pretend otherwise. Well-meaning educators and career boosting grant seekers alike have been trying these workarounds for decades, and they never work. And it's so obvious why they don't work.
