My backpack has two large removable aluminum rods that run down the back. They look like they're part of the structure, but they're fully removable and actually quite effective weapons. While they have no cutting power, they're long enough and hard enough and have enough mass to be very painful when swung.

Submission + - Writing on the wall for Cent OS (wieers.com) 1

An anonymous reader writes: Dag Wieers, who is something of a name around here, has been frustrated with Cent OS for a while, but apparently he's finally sworn off Cent OS. The project has been struggling a bit since the open letter back in July 2009, but even more so as the limited workforce tries to keep up with 3 concurrent releases of RedHat Enterprise Linux (4.x, 5.x and now 6.x). The forums and mailing lists are awash with complaints surrounding the lack of communication, professionalism, and rampant attitude issues. The ongoing delay in the CentOS 6 release and the now resolved lag in 5.x updates are actually the smaller concerns. People want to help and donate time and money, but the lead devs are unwilling and/or too busy to share how its done and distribute the load. The announcements page on the CentOS website has been basically dead for a long time and users are expected to find Karanbir Singh's twitter account which generally has more information about his pub crawls than what's relevant. More serious users are finding it extremely difficult to plan rollouts and upgrades when the goal posts are forever moving further apart and no real communication on what's left to do and how much time it will take to do those things or what the hangups are. Long story short, there's a lot of talk indicating Scientific Linux is the new go to guy.

Submission + - CentOS Project User Uprising (centos.org)

An anonymous reader writes: CentOS has been having trouble since its team leader disappeared for a while in July of 2009. As the delay in the release of CentOS 5.6 and 6 stretch out and security updates dwindle, This forum threadsome of the userbase is becoming increasingly frustrated mainly with the lack of communication about progress and professionalism in the project. Every few weeks an announcement or post claims 2-3 more weeks. In my opinion, a lot of the frustration originally was not in the delay itself, but the communication, however as things stretch out without updates, I believe even that tolerance is waning. Even Dag Wieers, has called out for change and security updates. Meanwhile any requests for information or constructive criticism of the situation results in a poorly spelled flaming rant that is wholly unprofessional. Are these the people you want to trust your server to?

More specifically my idea was-

" Unless Dan Balsam or someone else with an email address including “danbalsam.com” "

which i now have, since my email includes danbalsam.com in it. (someuser@iamdanbalsam.com).

" has specifically opted in to receive commercial email from you, you understand and agree that neither Dan Balsam nor anyone else with an email address including “danbalsam.com” has ever requested any commercial communication from you, and that any commercial email you send that includes “danbalsam.com” in the To, Cc, or Bcc fields that fits these criteria is against the express wishes of the recipient(s)." "

I specifically opted-in myself in as someone with an email address including "danbalsam.com".
