If people are using your contact information to ring your phone off the hook, then complain to the police and phone companies. I've been a domain holder since around 2000, and my current domains since at least 2006. Never once have I been contacted by anyone malicious, except for that one registrar that likes to pretend they're the Canadian government... but I just throw their letters in the trash.
