I dropped into the comments to say this myself. Seems another old-timer beat me to it.

You laugh, but check out this transcript from the This American Life episode on testosterone:

So that scene from Close Encounters of the Third Kind (the chatter between a pilot and the tower) was pretty realistic then? That's kinda cool.
I've had a pi-hole running at home for a couple of years (I even donate monthly via Patreon).
At first, it blocked YouTube ads, then Google fought back and now it doesn't. I assume they started streaming the ads from the same systems as the primary content, so pi-hole can't really do much to combat that.
I'm not sure uBlock Origin still works its magic in the browser. I wonder if its methods could be integrated into a proxy like Squid. Maybe then smart devices and TVs like Roku will be advert free.
I mean who wouldn't? I mean, we'll get that fancy warp drive to finally work, right?
1 square mile is 640 acres.
Same goes for Subscribe and Save items. You could say it's just following supply and demand trends, but I suspect unscrupulous sellers jack up the price after the first order. I've had far too many things go WAY up in price after the first order.
The amount of cross-sectional representation in Slasher season 3 is so completely unrealistic: 1) Lead detective is black woman with an Indian man for a partner; 2) the central death in the season revolves around a white, poly/bi man who had a gay middle-eastern dude as a hookup partner; 3) a gay/gay/straight love triangle with 2 middle-eastern dudes and a white woman; 4) a white/black lesbian couple; 5) an asexual asian woman paired with a metrosexual white male; and 6) the asshole middle-aged white nationalist neighbor.
It's so completely over the top I was wondering the whole season if it was intentionally a self parody,
The cost of Netflix is line noise, but their shitty auto-play features make me rage at a visceral level. I ponied up the monthly fee a few days ago so I watch Stranger Things 3 on the 4th without drama, but after that it's cancelled and back to open directories to snag other shows a week or two after they drop.
Check out fathomevents.com for limited re-releases of older films. I personally plan on seeing Alien and Spirited Away this year.
Did you just assume Lisa's... nevermind.
Don't worry. The Church has stockpiled a bunch of carbon credits.
You should see what they did with Heathers.
Yeah, I un-subbed after YEARS (since the first DVD delivery days) of being a loyal subscriber for this very reason.
It's so awful that I'll sub for the months when House of Cards (won't now since Spacey got kicked) and Stranger Things drop to give my support, then I'll download/torrent the entire show to watch on my Plex server.
If they just let me disable that horrible feature, I'd willingly let my $10/month sub go on indefinitely.
Screw that UI designers at Netflix.
