I started doing the same after our local newspaper tripled its price, required you call in to cancel, and after waiting on hold forever, dropped the call when I said I wanted to cancel. They did allow me to "update my payment information" online, so I switched to a virtual card with a short expiration date and problem solved.

Keep in mind that the actual useful range is half the spec'd range: you typically only charge to 80% because it's easier on the battery and the last 20% is a lot slower, and then you don't want to drive to 0% - aside from not pushing the envelope, charging stations aren't going to be at exactly that location and it's easier on the battery to not go that low. So you're running from 80% to 20%, i.e. 60% of the capacity. And then the ratings for optimistic and typically for slower speeds than people really go. 500 miles spec'd really is the ideal capacity for "gas equivalence".

I have a Brother color laser printer which was also not terribly expensive and I've been very happy with it, except that it periodically makes me pull the toner cartridges and move a slider back and forth for some reason. It usually has a paper halfway in that I have to pull out at the same time also. But I'd rather deal with that nuisance than HPs crap.
