Comment Re:by the time you read this (Score 1) 170

Give something back to the country that allowed you to thrive. Don't just use tax loopholes, lobby for new tax brakes, enrich "the investors". Help your country a bit, improve the healthcare, education, infrastructure, whatever needs improving. Yes, you won't make your investors super happy, they won't make 5 billion this year, but they will make 4 billion instead. I think that's ok too.

The latest from Canada, only about 10% plastic that we as consumers add to recycling programs actually gets recycled: https://www.cbc.ca/news/techno... So, consumers in a lot of cases do their part, but government is not regulating recycling industry. It's time to just put an end to that. One solution is to ban single use plastics altogether. It seems like a drastic measure but in reality it is not. There are other ways to package and store soda beverages: glass, aluminum or cardboard. Another solution is to put non-refundable 50c pricetag on each plastic bottle.

Not necessary to stop eating meat: just eat what you can hunt/kill :) Also, just eat less food. It's not just the population size, but it also about the average size of an individual. But back to the article. It is obvious how organic farming could yield less. At the same time many crops (including wheat, corn) provide much more nutrition on the same yield, mainly because of bio-availability of nutrients. Another thing to consider is pesticides/herbicides that pollute earth and water.

Not exactly the same. One is standing to gain millions from the sale of pesticides. The other, in the worst case, will cost you extra 25-50 cents per pound of produce... and will reduce the chance of poisoning. Here's one opinion, the whole environmental thing becomes a "home insurance" problem. Most likely your house won't burn down be destroyed. Yet, you still put $50 /month away for that, just in case; you put the candles out; make sure there are no exposed wires.... Same with the planet we live on. Maybe nothing will happen, but lets put some money into it, reduce the chance of getting burned. Houses can be rebuilt, but I worry that rebuilding the Earth won't be as trivial.

Comment It's not achieving much, and will fire back (Score 1) 378

People who hide their identities will not have trouble getting in, legally or illegally. It remains to be seen but I think it will: 1. backfire as Euro countries introduce reciprocating measure: now Americans will have to give their social info to foreign governments 2. it will cost US taxpayer more as someone will have to enter this data if the forms are not submitted digitally; potentially every border crossing and port of entry will have to hire one or two more people (not sure how many people that would amount to, but i figure at least one thousand).
