Comment Re:Whaling bad, mass breeding cattle and pigs good (Score 1) 188

They're a slow-breeding, unfarmed animal. Whaling has essentially been outlawed* because they can't sustain being hunted for food.

That's true, but if Japan did start farming whales for consumption, that would still be unacceptable to those currently opposed to Japan's whaling.

The main reasons are that whales are somewhat cute and are considered by some to at least as intelligent as humans.

I don't think that your grasp of fiduciary duty is as strong as you think it is.

CEOs and corporations are not "required by law to be heartless bastards". If that were true, corporations would be barred from working with charities.

Corporations are also allowed to consider reputation as acting in the interests of the company.

For many crimes, punishment is not really required. For example, if a person is in prison for drug possession and is rehabilitated, while should punishment matter.

Also, emphasis on punishment can actually hurt society as a whole. If a person is not already animal when he goes into prison, he will be when he gets out.

I knew that the US criminal justice system was screwed up. It's pretty sad that europe is headed that way too.

The answer to your question was "no" with regard to MH370 and you've done nothing to show otherwise and quoted no sources of your own in response to several of mine.

Quoting "broadcast news stories" isn't much of a source.

If you want news stories, here is a link to one that discusses ELTs in regard to MH370.

You can google more if you'd like. In any event, don't rely on "broadcast news stories" for your information - especially with fast moving news stories where there is very little information.
