Exactly. There will be +240 million Linux PC's soon
Right. Illegal apps are always better than legal ones.
My use of Youtube has declined considerably during the last few years (and the use of adblockers has multiplied at the same time
Spellcheckers are an annoying nuisance, I always turn them off on any program which has one.
I learned to read and write at school, I have no use for them.
I know my reply may sound somewhat arrongant, but I'm always wondered why even native english speakers are so dependent on spellcheckers?
No, english is NOT my native language.
I've always used Twitter more or less as a read-only newsfeed, and, for years it has been usable only via third-party apps using the Twitter API. But if that API disappears, or is changed to prevent the apps filtering out ads and 'algorithms', I'll stop using Twitter immediately.
Actually, this raises a concern about the Electron-based apps. Electron, as you know, embeds a Chromium engine in it, and as far as I know spellchecking is enabled by default in Electron. Some apps does not use the builtin spellchecking, or have disabled it, but others have it enabled. The problem is, there's no way an user can turn the spellchecking on or off on Electron-based apps (unless the app developer provides an interface to do so).
Use firefox and no issue!
The biggest issue I have with any browser is the broken UI design of Firefox (since version 91)
Sinclair ZX81. I still have it in the basement, unfortunately in a non-working state after a certain soldering session back in the '80s. Should fix it some day...
In theory, that can happen anywhere. What can we learn from this?
- Never use cloud, if you can help it.
- Never TRUST cloud.
There's always ADB
I did as you said and uninstalled Windows 11
I did that before it was cool. I uninstalled Windows 98 and replaced it with Linux. Been that way ever since. (Okay, I still have Windows 10 running on Virtualbox)
Actually, I really have to be thankful for Windows ME. It is the sole reason I've been using Linux as the main, and most of the time, only OS for the last 20+ years. If Microsoft had released XP instead of ME at that time, it is (just barely) within possibility that I would be mostly-Microsoft guy today.
Mozilla has got the 'Twitter Disease'. They react exactly the same way Twitter did when it's user base started declining: "Let's start f*cking with the user interface to bring users back (lol)"
I tolerated 'Proton' interface all in all for 10 minutes, and then headed to Slashdot. I was sure someone had already found a solution...
I wonder how long Mozlla will allow us to disable Proton, though...
