Comment I'll take "WTF is HeadSpin for 600, Alex" (Score 1) 28

This Silcon Valley darling is a software development company that offers a platform to test and monitor mobile apps across 90+ locations and devices. (From LinkedIn

The explanation on the company's own website was way shittier. "HeadSpin is a global company that offers a platform for testing, monitoring, and managing digital experiences across mobile and web channels." Yeah, "digital experiences".

I don't have links for the following, I'm just going from memory here. There was an academic who looked at a bunch of those books like "From Good to Great" after the fact. He analyzed how the companies performed long-term after the books (which wasn't always good), and what processes had been claimed in the books as the causes of their initial successes. He found that the specific processes were not really responsible for their success in many cases. Instead, it was a handful of good decisions that turned out to be good because of luck, or lucky timing. Their processes were incapable of repeating or even fostering more good decisions, so their processes did not cause long-term success.

In the end, it came down to a few lucky decisions.

Not much difference. I was trying to make a point related to your comment that "politicians will NEVER allow AI to take over their job". I mean that the AI will prove useful to the politicians, and the AI's positions will prove valuable and popular, and in the end the AI will be the one directing the politicians' positions. The pols will just be talking heads, parroting what the AI recommends. Pols won't let AI kick them out of a job, but the thing controlling the work will really be the AI.

Pols will still be needed as talking heads, but they will get their talking points from the AI. The AI will make them like Saruman, able to have a voice that is more appealing and convincing to the listener. However, in this case, there will be no magic involved, and only an AI hand up the backsides of the sock-puppet pols.
