Journal snack's Journal: One is the Lonliest Number

Soooo today started off pretty slowly. Woke up at about 8 (damn alarm clock) got up, ate some breakfast and checked my e-mail (Oh goodie... Spam). There wasnt anything interesting going on the internet, or on tv, so i went back to sleep at about 9. Woke back up at 11, I found out that my cousins aunts and uncles were coming over for the evening festivities. Kind of cool i guess, so i took a shower, and played some Neverwinter Nights.

6pm finally rolls around, and we start piling everyone into the cars to get to this shindig, we went to the local highschool to take a shuttle bus to the Frisco 4th of july centennial celebration. Upon parking, it took us about 45 mins to finally board the busses... but my cousins and uncle kept me quite entertained. We finally arive at the place, and there are a LOT of people there. Some kiddie band was playing (Jump 5 i believe... sounded rather pop'ish, but whatever). So we pick a spot on the slightly muddy ground, and set up camp... Pretty much everyone had one of those foldup cloth chairs that you can buy for $3.49 at walmart. After everyone was situated, i ventured off into the crowd.... To see what i could see. Not really too much, i'm not a huge fan of crowds, but i can make my way through easier than most.

Someone comes out to warm up the band (3-Dog Night), and amazingly i find my family again. They had gotten up and moved (talk about skills). I had heard of this band before, but didnt really recall any of their songs. The lead singer came on the microphone and said "Ok ladies and gentlemen, we are going to take you WAAAAAAY back to 1970, when motorcycles were dangerous and sex was safe" That got me laughing. They sounded really good, i kind of liked them.. Some of their stuff sounded familar, but not really. Then they played their well known songs... "One is the lonliest number" and "Jerimiah was a bullfrog". Pretty cool stuff.

After the band was done, the mayor of the city came out and was talking about all the things that the city had done since it's establishment in 1902. I dont recall what exactly he said, but it was cool. Andthen the pyrotechnics had their shot at capturing everyones attention. For about 20 mins, the night sky lit up with bright explosions of color. Quite spectacular.

And then the fun began. 5,000+ people trying to get to the same place at the same time. One word to describe it is NIGHTMARE. The city was smart enough to have shuttle busses running throught the day, but they werent smart enough to have more of them running. According to our kind driver, there were only 14 of them, where as about 30 were needed. Oh well. We were about 4 miles away from our car, so walking wasnt too much of an option with my injured uncle. So we boarded a bus that got us semi-close to our destination. (for some reason, there were NO busses labled HIGH SCHOOL, which is where we were parked). Short journey to the church, we asked the bus driver if she'd take us to the school... With a little persuasion from my charasmatic uncle, she took us. What a kind woman.

It's now about 12:00, and i'm quite spent from the whole ordeal. Pretty fun though, It would have been more fun if i had known some ppl my age to hang out with, Soon enough though.
