Journal the_mad_poster's Journal: I Should Not Read the Morning News 34

You know... every day... every day it's something new. I'm in a country run by idiots... for idiots.... of idiots.... I hate this place. I'm surrounded by morons. This isn't America. It's like the rest of the world's dumping ground for the mentally retarded. What did you motherfuckers do with my country? This shit isn't funny anymore you stumphumping pigfuckers!

... Sen. John Cornyn of Texas said Rumsfeld's dismissal would be "a gift to the jihadists and the insurgents" in Iraq.

Oh, really? Is this all it takes to make your case anymore these days?

"If you don't vote for Bush, you're against the troops"

FUCK YOU!

"If you don't support the war, you hate America"

FUCK YOU!

"If you don't support the president's policies, you support the terrorists"

FUCK YOU!

That's my argument from now on. You can take the flag, staple it with a picture of King Chimp to your nutsack, grease up a flagpole, sit on it and flap in the breeze you slackjawed, slope-headed, inbred mental midgets. I've fucking had it.

Here's another thing: HAPPY HOLIDAYS YOU COCKSUCKING GODFUCKERS! Nobody cares about your "let's all say Merry Christmas" bullshit. Guess what you stupid knob? There are three major holidays (if you count Kwanzaa as a major holiday, anyway..) all bundled together in the same time period. If Macy's wants to honor all three of them at once, that's your fucking problem you whiny saclicker. YOU say Merry Christmas, and if some uppity, crook-nosed yuppie in a Gucci sweater gives you shit about being offended by the word "Christmas", give them five points of Christmas joy in the form of a knuckle sandwhich to the jaw for being such a limp-wristed, Brie-eating prick. Kick their yippy little overgrown rat-on-a-leash into the nearest newsstand for good measure. But shut the fuck up about people NOT saying Merry Christmas! If YOU can choose to say Merry Christmas, -I- can choose to say "Happy Holidays". GET OVER YOURSELF!

Happy, motherfucking, chanakwanzaamas.

    • Please remember that sympathy != support.

Lack of sympathy, pity, and anger over them being put into harm's way is all well and good. But that's the President's call, not theirs.

For all we know, 50% of the troops could have voted the "military ticket" -- i.e., whomever they think would be the best general. (or to put it another way -- they didn't vote for the guy who sent them off on a foolish war. They voted against the guy who ran as a vietnam veteran whistle-blower.)

        • Umm... Wow. Excellent post (and the one earlier that started this). I'm gonna have to commit the train of logic to memory for discussions at Xmas and birthday dinners over the next week.
      • If someone thinks Bush is risking their life in a foolish war, and also thinks Kerry would be a "bad general" then they should vote for someone else.

But almost all of them didn't. So they're responsible.

          Politics.

And don't forget that the election was VERY close. A vote for anyone but Bush or Kerry was a vote for the other guy -- or, rather, would be if individual votes acutally mattered.
    • They knew. They knew that the government was doing these kinds of things, and they knew that stupid, under-equipped, wars with no exit strategies would continue to be the order of the day while the Republicans remain in office, and they voted for that anyway.

Isn't it reasonable to presume that given that Kerry repeatedly parroted the same basic failed policies of the Bush administration "but better" (with no clear definition of "better" other than "being nicer to our friends") that they made their decision

        • If you mean Kerry said he'd have gone to war too

No, I mean the "we're there now, we have to finish what we started, and I'm going to do..." which ended up being the same list as Bush provides, with the proviso that somehow a Kerry Presidency would be able to succeed in dragging our allies and the UN into the morass along with us. Obviously Bush can't do that, but I think it's also obvious that Kerry couldn't have done that either.

Unfortunately, Kerry doesn't have a time machine to press the "restart" butt

            • I think you're reading too much into my points; I did read the rest of your comment, and my point was that some people always will pick the devil they know versus the one they do not. That does not mean I agree. In fact, if you read MY comments, I already said that I'd have preferred Kerry.

The problem I have with any of your comments is this--they assume stupidity and incompetence in the other side instead of attempting to find a reasonable explanation, even if it's one you disagree with.

            • As far as it goes, reading the rest of your comment was irrelevant to my particular response, since your comment was responding to something I didn't say and didn't mean...
        • "Kerry made it clear..."

About so very many things. But he was only clear to people capable of grasping thoughts longer than the average soundbite.
  • YOU say Merry Christmas, and if some uppity, crook-nosed yuppie in a Gucci sweater gives you shit about being offended by the word "Christmas", give them five points of Christmas joy in the form of a knuckle sandwhich to the jaw for being such a limp-wristed, Brie-eating prick. • Sorry I spose I jumped a few places there. The people claiming that Europe must be Xtian but not going to Church are justifying their anti-Muslim, anti-Turk sentiments. Yet Europeans seem (at least what I've seen) to at least claim mystification about America's racial prejudice problems. (hence "won't admit to having" racial prejudices against Turks).

That more clear? Nothing aimed at you :-).

Ah, OK. Went over my head for a moment there, but makes sense. (Whew! ;-) )

FWIW I consider myself a believing

            • its Islamist government

Isn't this a relatively new development? I thought Turkey had a long history of being a successfully secularized state among the majority muslim states...

              • Isn't this a relatively new development? I thought Turkey had a long history of being a successfully secularized state among the majority muslim states...

It is and it isn't. The paradox is that the Kemalist military is the single biggest force for secularization...yet it's a bit of a handicap getting into the EU with a government that's only tolerated by the military. Occasionally the military has made dark hints that Erdogan (the Islamist PM) should watch his step, though they have refrained from openly

            • In particular I don't see why countries like Bulgaria or Romania should be seriously considered, and Turkey shouldn't...

Because the Turks are still savages, whereas Ceaucescu was kicked out over a decade ago?

Mmmm... Yeah. The criteria for acceptance in the EU seems... I don't know. Are there criteria?
              • Because the Turks are still savages, whereas Ceaucescu was kicked out over a decade ago?

Unfortunately, Romania's legal and economic system is still virtually a basket case -- and they have the likes of Vadim Tudor [time.com] in politics, and a poor record of treatment of Roma (Gypsies) to answer for.

Bulgaria also has a large Muslim population (IIRC 15% of the population), so the anti-Muslim argument strikes me as hollow if they want to oppose Turkey on those grounds. And indeed, Bosnia-Hercegovina (which is still

  • I fully agree that the art of intelligent debate is dead. Yet, it's never been a part of 'populist culture'. There has never been a time in history where decisions did not get made for stupid reasons (O.K., a little broad, perhaps).

Basically, though, 'Men in Black' had it pegged... "No, a person is smart. People are panicky and stupid." It's amazing how true that is.

As far as 'Merry Christmas' - when I bitch about the Merry Christmas thing, it's more about people making me feel like I can't say Merry

  • I have such fond memories of my father declaring that it is once again that time of year when we shove a seven foot Douglas Fir up the angel's ass.
  • I celebrate Festivus [wikipedia.org]! How could you be so incredibly insenstive as to exclude festivus celebrants! We're just three days away from gathering around the aluminum pole, the airing our grievances and the feats of strength!

    Fuck a bunch of Christmas/Channukah/Kwanzaa.

Festivus for the rest of us!

  • What did you motherfuckers do with my country?

Simple - the corporations got together and took over the universities, set up the lobby groups and think tanks to run the political agenda. The government was already using the schools for socialising people into pliant wage slaves anyhow.

The media mogals got into bed with the arms dealers, oil cartels, corporations, think tanks and the politicians.

The result is a non stop propaganda state, designed for the lowest common denominator, just like an army bootca
