Elsewhere, a Democrat earned a footnote in history by casting one of Minnesota's 10 electoral college votes for John Edwards, Kerry's running mate.

Several electors said they suspected someone unconsciously mixed up the two Johns on the ticket. "I'm certainly glad that the electoral college is not separated by one vote," elector Michael Meuers said.

Stupidity abounds. This state (MN) has a very low threshold for delegates. 1) Can breathe. 2) Shows up at all meetings. 3) Has time to go.

Most people drop off at requirement 2, it seems so simple, but so few actually show up (I'm in this boat).

You know, Brent.... it's not hard to escape a mod-bombing campaign if you pick up on it right away:

1. Watch the front page for a new story in which you can write something semi-coherent and on-topic.
2. Post something semi-coherent and on-topic in the first 10 comments (don't use a karma bonus so you can get 4 points).
3. Repeat.

5 posts that all go from +1 to +5 is good for completely reversing the mod bombing of 4 people. If you keep on top of it, they will eventually give up.

What is the Karma bonus? I'm rather confused by all this. I've talked to Brent (really, talked) about his Slashdot problems before, and so this topic interests me.

The only thing I know is you get mod points in a hurry if you submit a story that gets accepted. My Karma is "Good" and used to be "Positive." I'll have to look up this topic some more. Wonder what all the subjective ranks are...

Bad -> Post at 0
Neutral -> Default, Post at 1

Good
Excellent -> Post at +2


The karma bonus is an optional +1 modifier users with Excellent karma can use to post.

a) Don't like what he has to say and aren't smart enough to rebutt it (morons).

Those are just the sort of people who clean my clock at network video games, the basement-dwelling, pass-the-microwavable-pot-pie, adult children of overnurturing accomplices. On one occasion, I had the opportunity to witness such a life form, at his grandmother's home in Rubidox, CA. I came over with the explicit purpose of seeing the Rescuers Down Under, which was no longer in theaters, and as a college student, lacked the funds or foolishness required to own a VCR and TV as a CompSci major. Poor Brent.
