Journal Frisky070802's Journal: The end of employer-paid health insurance? 1

I was shocked that this was rejected!

IEEE-USA has a newsletter with a distressing story about the end of employer-paid healthcare in the USA. It documents the trend of benefits costs outstripping inflation, combined with tax breaks possibly shifting from employers to employees. The real question is, will salaries go up to offset an explicit shift, or do the employees lose out even more than they already have been? Need I even ask?

You will have to pad it out a bit, I'd look into the third option that traditional health insurance will be entirely replaced by High-Deductible plans and Health Savings Accounts - as that is the way the GOP is trying to mould the tax incentives, and also to support the entirely removing option in the article - recent discussion in the media that one of the options under Bush's proposed tax 'reform' has been conjectured to be removing the employer's deduction for health insurance premiums paid on behalf altogether - which would remove their financial incentives for continuing them

You could also bring up the general trend toward outsourcing and the use of independent contractors instead of 'employees'.

Anyway, when you have about 250 words put together - and supported by strong links to supporting articles on the web, submit it as a story to PLASTIC.com [plastic.com] in the WORK category under the topic icon 'Health'.
