Journal elwing's Journal: Work 1

Well, I started my full-time job this week...

I've been at work every morning since about 8, then everyone else (including my boss) shows up at 10 or 11 or so.

It's kinda boring. I'm supposed to be doing sysadmin and programming, but so far, I'm installing windows boxes (and I don't even have Admin privledges yet!)

I haven't been assigned any programming assignments/tasks, but I hope they assign me some soon, I'm sick of sitting in my office playing games....

  • I started with my company over a month ago, I'm paid hourly and I'm at work from 'round 7 'til after 5. However, I'm paid from 8 to 4:30. Fun stuff. I work in computer security and I only have admin privs. on my windows box. I'm supposed to do cyber cop scans of NT servers, but that's sort of pointless without domain admin privs. I'm also writing security docs for UNIX, but I don't have a UNIX account. So I have to email an admin begging for a copy of like inetd just to see what the heck is being run on a normal box so I don't go stating "This shall not be run" only to find it's like a major business need.

What games are you playing the office? Best thing I've found is putting some push pins in the cube wall and shooting rubber bands trying to get one to hang onto a pin.
