Journal mskfisher's Journal: DNS on fire 6

A story on the front page two weeks ago pointed out Verisign's intent to speed up DNS updates. The stated date was September 8.

Well, I just registered http://www.mattfisher.name/ tonight - the whole process, including name server propagation (to my location, anyway) took less than 20 minutes.

I'm impressed.
So, that begs the question - does it work for all of y'all? Or was I just in a fortunate corner of the 'net?

I'll even make it a poll:

  • a) Got it.
  • b) Don't got it.
  • c) Don't have the ability to look up name records... as far as I know, this site is named 1109654166, you insensitive clod.

DNS on fire

  • Works for me, and I'm checking it from work. We use VAXes for our DNS servers, so I'm guessing it's probably propogated fairly well by now...

Also, site looks great! I wish I had html skillz like that. My sites look pretty blah in comparison. What did you use for making the images?
    • Yeah, I'm pretty impressed with the speed of propagation. That's really cool.

Thanks - I put a decent amount of work into that initial design (has it almost been 2 years?). It's actually due for an update, and I think I'm going to go with CSS 3 and XHTML 1.1.
I used Photoshop to create the images, and I used CSS to style everything else. If you have any questions, I'd be more than happy to set up a JE for it - or you can ask by email.
  • Uh - very clean site...
  • I clicky clicky and I get a website, so I guess it works. :-)
  • I was an enthusiastic advocate of XHTML until I read this: Don't use XHTML [hixie.ch].

FYI, Hixie is one of the main Mozilla developers.
