Anti-Slash.org exists for the goal of wreaking havoc on Slashdot and making it unreadable in hopes of forcing the editors of this site to give in to their demands.

The purpose of this blacklist is to mark the Anti-Slash troll accounts as foes. You can then mark this account, Anti-Slash blacklist, as a friend. Then make a visit to your comment preferences and set "foes of friends" to -6. As long as you don't browse at -1, you will be able to avoid viewing much of the junk posted by Anti-Slash trolls.

To help keep this blacklist up to date, you can show me posts of any sort made by trolls from Anti-Slash. If it's a repost of another highly rated post, plagiarized from another site, a "bait-and-switch" mirror, a shock site, or some other kind of abuse and you can provide evidence to back this up, the account from which the abuse came from will be added to this blacklist. For now, post any reports of Anti-Slash abuse in the journal. It is recommended you post anonymously to avoid being harassed by Anti-Slash users. Shortly, an e-mail account will be created for the sole purpose of accepting reports of Anti-Slash trolling.

Also, this account will not have any friends, so it will not interfere with your use of the "friends of friends" bonus that you can assign.

  • Wow! What a great idea! It's not every day that you find somebody willing to stand up and "Proudly protect Slashdot...abuses".

    Seriously, though, this idea sucks. You'll only draw attention to their cause. If you can't ignore them without artificial help in completely blocking them out then perhaps you should reexamine your motives--perhaps they are reaching you on some level causing you to subconsciously promote them.     • I fully understand your concern, but I think your interpretation of this effort is misleading.

      Anti-Slash trolls rely on deception to carry out their attacks against Slashdot. The purpose of this account is to maintain a list of the methods Anti-Slash uses and those who carry out the attacks so that users of Slashdot are not fooled into becoming unwitting participants in disrupting Slashdot.

      I'm not doing this to gain sympathy from the editors, but to make Slashdot a better place for the users of Slashdot.

        This is true. However, so far as I can tell they're pretty open about things. Their goals are clearly stated [anti-slash.org] on the web site. You can even look up their leader's personal information using the whois database (at least I assume that's their leader). I've also googled a couple of the other head honchos there and had no trouble finding out who they were. They don't hide behind anonymity except when forced to (i.e. when posting to

        • One of the discussions in the Anti-Slash forums involved the list of comments and their suggested moderations. The complaint from one of their members was that Slashdot readers would view the list and then mod down their troll posts that had been modded up. A solution offered was to provide a fake list of moderations to non-members and the real list to people who were logged-in. Also, if I understand correctly, when they repost a comment, there's an option to prevent the comment from being displayed in futu
          • It doesn't matter if what they're doing is hidden from non-logged in users. You can always log in and see what's going on. They need to recruit new members if they're going to make any real difference here, and they've got to bring their members into the loop.

            From what I can see, if Anti-Slash gets their way, then Slashdot will be either (1)a much better place or (2)useless and/or gone. If it's a better place, then everybody wins. We, the visitors, win because the broken moderation system is fixed/removed
