Journal Sklivvz's Journal: Comics Collector part 2

I repost the entry since people cannot reply anymore:

A friend of mine is a passionate comics collector. He is moving from his current home to a new one, and he wants to have an in-depth database of the comics he collected over the years.

What he needs is something more than a simple list of the titles, he wants the full credits and as much info as possible. He started doing it by hand but quickly figured out that having a 30 boxes of comics is maybe a bit too much. I suggested he uses a barcode scanner for the comics that have a barcode.

So here's the question: does anyone know of solutions that let you catalogue your comics using a barcode scanner, and get all the available info from that (authors, artists...), maybe using Amazon Webservices or a provided reference DB?

New info:

Brady Jarvis suggested taking a look to: GNOME Comics Organizer which is very complete but lacks support for a barcode scanner.

CE informed me that comic book databases online do exist but do not support ISBN (i.e. the number returned by the barcode scanner) since only bookstore comics have one (as opposed to newsstand comics). It would still be good to have since about 50% of my friends comics have a barcode.

It's a naive, domestic operating system without any breeding, but I think you'll be amused by its presumption.
