Journal FortKnox's Journal: Football: GO BENGALS GO! 9

As I write this, we are at commercial for the end of the third quarter in the Bengals/Chiefs game. And I'll tell you what, if someone was watching this as their first football game this season, they'd think the TV has it wrong on the records, cause the Bengals D is stuffing, the special teams are on fire (Peter Warrick has a TD, Dante Hall is getting tossed around), and the offense is producing and taking time away from the Chiefs O. There's still 15 minutes of ball to play, but DAMN are the Bengals looking hot. Who laughed when Chad Johnson guaranteed victory???

Update: Who dey? Who dey? Who dey think gonna beat dem Bengals? Wow, what a game. Marvin Lewis is for real as head coach. Peter "the Great" Warrick steps up, Rudi Johnson makes everyone forget about Corey Dillon and his whining.
AND
Due to the Baltimore loss, I can say something I didn't think I'd say this season...
The Cincinnati Bengals are #1 in the AFC North division! WOW!
And, this also means the steelers could win the division (only one game behind Baltimore and Cincinnati and play them both again before season end).

  • but they played the Cardinals to an inevitable outcome. The only thing I can think of is that I should've picked up Holcomb for the FFL.
  • And the Rams came back and beat the Bears! Fantastic!
After the Badgers making Michigan State their own personal bitches yeaterday, and the Packers winning as I write this, it's shaping up to be a pretty good weekend for football!
  • 1. Credit where credit is due - Marvin Lewis has done a great job getting the most out of the Bengals players, especially after the off-season defections of Takeo Spikes, etc.

    2. Bengals fans, Jon Kitna, Rudi Johnson and Peter Warrick could be your Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith and Michael Irvin.

    3. Corey Dillon, start looking for a new team now. I hope you know the number of a good removal firm because you're going to need it.

    4. Apart from week 1, when they got spanked by the Broncos, the Bengals have been in
  • But I got to thinking Thursday about it, I've had a bad vibe about the Chefs all year (didn't think holmes would get back to form) and there is something about Trent Green that screams "second place". Oh yeah, Morton's groin was tweaked and Dante had a bum shoulder, I actually picked the Bengals in my Yahoo pick pool (14%), but I'm so pissed Warrick didn't do this last year, I had him as my 2nd WR in my FFL.
Enjoy, and I'll enjoy the 12/28 game a little more, but I'm going to enjoy the Titan's super bowl e
    • The Chefs? What's their team song, Chocolate Salty Balls, perhaps?

Just kidding. I'll be enjoying a Titans Super Bowl win too. Let's just hope that Steve McNair can stay healthy, Jevon Kearse can get healthy again (after that ankle injury against the Jaguars), and that Eddie George and Co. can start running the ball effectively.

  • They didn't suck [sfgate.com] this week, thanks to good D, Rick Mirer, and Michigan alum (GO BLUE!) Tyrone Wheatley. Claudia and I were there in the very last row above the Black Hole.

Meanwhile, Skins lose [washingtonpost.com] to Panthers. The Panthers! WTF?

  • Belichick's got a shot because of the dominance of the Pats' D despite having a number of new starters.

Parcells has a shot (at least for now) for bringing the Cowpokes to adequacy even quicker than anybody expected.

Lewis has a shot simply for turning around an organization (from the secretaries and ball boys on up).

I have the sneaking suspicion that the Bengals will win the AFC North, upset Tennessee, and upset my Patriots in Foxboro before losing to the Chiefs at Arrowhead.
