Wow, they finally marked me back up to neutral karma. Remind me not to call a stupid idea, stupid. Otherwise I get black listed :)

There's a better reason

Better to call a stupid idea a wrong idea. "Stupid" at least hints at an ad-hominem argument; which is of course, fallacious, but worse poisons the whole climate of the discussion. To much of that, and you have the usual Usenet-type flamefest that drives away anyone with an intelligent point of view to share.

If an idea really is stupid, then it should be no difficulty to calmly and respectfully point out its flaws. That way you look smart and you look cool.

Now I have to go and take my own advice.

I only refered to it as stupid in my journal, not in the article :)

In the article I gave precise calm logical reasons as to why the aforementioned idea wasnt a great idea.
