Journal Ktulu_03's Journal: Cleveland school district does it again 4

http://www.newsnet5.com/education/2371297/detail.html

This is hardly a Cleveland-only problem. Every big school district has a similar bloated overspending administrator at the helm.

This is unbelievable. People wonder why the schools in Cleveland aren't getting any better, even though levy after levy has passed. I hope I never live or work in that city (I live in the surrounding suburbs) and see my tax dollars go to waste like that. $54,000 would buy a lot of books, paint, etc.

And why does she even deserve a bonus? Did the children's test scores go up 20%? Did the graduation rate go up 20% I doubt it.

Teachers are not paid enough. Administrators are paid way too much. Administrators make the budget, and are against charter schools, vouchers, school choice, tax cuts. See a pattern? :)

  • This is hardly a Cleveland-only problem.

Here in Las Vegas, our dipsh*t superintendent (doesn't even have a PhD, and the people in Fresno weren't too impressed by his performance there) has spent the past few weeks haranguing the Legislature for more funding. Meanwhile, the school district throws out perfectly usable furniture and has left working computers outside and exposed to the elements so it can justify having to buy new equipment. The latest insult (heard on the radio this morning) is that they

be careful there, in my state (KY) that mean you have English majors teaching math and science in the high schools while I have to finish a MA in Edu to teach as a non-temp sub on a $60/day contract, despite having a BS in Biology. I would love to teach HS Math, Science, Comp Sci, and/or Social Studies in a rural school district but I really don't want to go through the red tape and expense of having a bullshit masters degree just so I can spread my kn

I'm just passing on what was mentioned on the radio. I'm not sure what it was made them "unqualified." If it's simply not having an E-school degree, that isn't something I would be too worried about as long as they hav

    • Geesh, that makes the problems here not seem as bad. Its really sad to see that so many big city school districts are going downhill. Here in Cleveland, we have a Dem mayor, and a superintendent (the one mentioned) who's only accountable to the mayor, and all they do is fill each other's pockets.
But the people keep voting for democrats and the school levy's for the last several elections, and they are talking about needing another levy this upcoming election. Say what you want about the suburbs, I do
