Journal Saint Aardvark's Journal: Helpdesk Call #2 3

Message left on our voice mail:

"Hi, this is so-and-so. My email isn't working, hasn't been for about 12 hours or so, so something's obviously wrong at your end. I can still get in through your back door, but I don't want to do that. Give me a call, please."

Wow your my isp from 5 years ago. I noticed dowco runs on freebsd now.. congrats.

I was a customer back when the whole thing ran on NT4 and used to rage at the thing not being able to handle my linux kernel feed.

Guys get new techs as well? I have some not so fond memories of the sysadmin in Chilliwack.

Heres a quote (I had not said a thing about either windows or Linux when he said it) "ohh you run Linux? You do know the windows port 139 bug was Unix' fault right?"

That was 3 isps ago. Ironically enough I changed to the competition (my last dialup account ever) right before they got blacklisted for a week over their open relay.

    • Thanks for the reply. Yeah, FreeBSD is great -- can't imagine what it would be like on NT <shudder>. As for the guy in Chwk, I'm not sure who it might be; I don't think there's anyone there from five years ago.

Read your journal -- holy shit. Did your ex-boss really give Alan Ralsky your cel number?

Good luck on the job hunt.

      • Ohh I can imagine what it was like on NT.. I was there man.. not as bad as chill.org though who ran their mail server off MacOS.

Leo? Yeah he did the guy was souless and if I had known about either the porn or his spammer connections I would never have left Chilliwack.

Ralksy even sounds like a slimeball on the phone. Although it was amusing to see the anti spam groups get by the stuff Ralsky said they never would get through.

Ahh well.. I did warn Leo the anti spam groups would win and they did.

As for the job hunt: no worries. I'm negotiating a CTO position and that should kick in before my employment insurance kicks out.
