Journal The Fun Guy's Journal: 191.3 Oh, screw it 3

I was going to launch into another tirade about a coworker who is a first-class jerk. He's a condescending, arrogant prick, and was being especially shitty as he went out of his way to pick a fight with me last week over something stupid. He was clearly in the wrong and was escalating it at every step, with every spiteful, posturing e.mail.

I was going to note that every time I get a spotlight and he gets sidelined, he causes trouble in the days leading up to it.

I was going to relate how a few minutes ago, he said, "Oh, don't worry, I'm just writing a book review for a class. It's on functioning in a hostile work environment. I was just creating an issue to make the boss choose sides. I knew he'd side against me, so I just needed to document it."

So, it was all not only shitty and belittling, it was also purely petty, manipulative and above all else, unnecessary? And that makes it OK? Especially since God Himself, in all His infinite wisdom, mercy and compassion, would ALSO have sided against you after the way you acted, you stupid ass?

I was going to get thoroughly eloquent on each of these points, but screw it. There's no catharsis here, especially since I have work to do.

  • That bit about him doing 'research for class' is pure BS. He's just trying to normalize his perceived attitude.
    • I give it 50/50 that it's just a smokescreen. Either way, I've already set my response in motion.

      • Sounds like a big mind fuck. I'd try to avoid this person. If that is not possible then document everything in detail for a workplace harassment complaint. Bullying should not be tolerated. You're probably middle-class enough to afford a lawyer, and I'd say get one ASAP because no expense should be spared for your psychological well being. Most asshats just end up quitting when these types of situations arise, some just go postal, and few have the intelligence to have their workplace working conditions fixe
