Journal guywcole's Journal: Contesting a link to website giving unfair information
(Sent to the contact e-mail for the OIT website editor.)
To Whom It May Concern:
I'd like to request that the "Define the Line" links on the Project NEThics website, pointing to http://www.definetheline.com, be removed. This website provides false information about copyright law by omitting information about Fair Use and suggesting that certain activities are specifically illegal when they may in fact be legal. I believe that it is a disservice to University community members to suggest that this site might be a useful tool.
An example of such a link may be found at http://www.nethics.umd.edu/resources/. A page on the "Define the Line" website providing false information of this nature can be found at http://www.definetheline.com/quiz.html.
Please contact me immediately if you disagree with my suggestions and/or intend not to remove the links. Response in writing, by e-mail or post, is preferred.
