This is certainly a dilemma. I don't think nearly enough people donate blood, but I also think that donating blood is not nearly convenient enough. I used to work at a large company which had regular collection by the Red Cross at an interval that coincided with the Red Cross's permitted interval (56 days I think?). The company permitted you to take work time to give blood, and they always had the caterers that ran the cafeteria provide a great selection of sandwiches cookies and snacks to those who donate
Last time I gave for the 60th time, = 30 litres of blood. Quite a capacity. A lot of donors in the Netherlands don't feel like donating anymore, since the persons on the board of the blood-bank (Sanquin Holland) earn several times the money our MP does. (A lot of money is made by blood sold for research etc.) But I keep on giving. Someone has to be cheap, to keep the product cheap, to keep life affordable.
