Journal Degrees's Journal: Happy New Year 2
May this year be filled with better times than last.
And if any of you all happen to visit Cow Country California, PLEASE let me know. I'd love to play host (schedules permitting). We do happen to have a national park which is invariably the sixth or seventh item on people's Things To See In California list - so they never see it.

Happy new years to you too. I hope it has gotten off to a good start.
Ironically, my family lived in CA for about 6 years and we never made it to that national park. I always thought it was farther away from us than that (we lived near Sacramento).

It is a long trip - 3.5 hours from Sacto to Visalia and that's essentially a straight shot at freeway speed. If your destination was the General Sherman Tree, then you'd cut through Fresno and save an hour. Of course, you'd probably want to save another hour and just head straight to Yosemite.... ;-)
From the south, the General Sherman Tree is 1.5 hours out of Visalia. Either way, it's some serious drive time.
