Journal Presto Vivace's Journal: Java 6 Preview Available for Leopard

Jonathan Lehr writes:

Over the past several months, a number of very vocal critics in the Java community have taken Apple to task for not only not providing an implementation of Java 6 for OS X, but also for not providing even a timetable for a Java 6 release. Well, hopefully some of those critics can now take heart and relent: Apple is currently seeding the new Java SE 6 Developer Preview 8 on their ADC website ( http://connect.apple.com) ...
...But then there's always Boot Camp -- which is why I found some of the tantrums that were thrown on this issue pretty hard to swallow. I have in mind in particular rants of the nature, "Screw Apple, I'm gonna auction off my MacBook Pro on eBay and buy a Dell," or "Apple has turned its back on the Java community and is therefore anathema from henceforth and forevermore."
I mean, wouldn't it be easier just to boot Windows on your MBP for a few months until the JDK port shows up if you absolutely, positively have to run the newer JDK (or are just incredibly eager to get a look at it, in which case you could probably spend most of your time in OS X, and boot Windows when you feel the urge to tinker with Java 6)?
