There are those who have gone to some other site, or passed on in somwe other way. If'n you're not mentioned, I apologize; my memory can only hold so much space:

If you weren't mentioned by name, I apologize (or you still post to Slashdot, even if it is about baseball). My brain can only work so much. And these are folks, I ain't heard from in a while. Presumably lost to multiply. I know a couple of people from here have attempted to include me in that multiply shennanigans (my job recently released it from the forbidden zone). If you can find it in your heart to send me some kind of invite so's I can expand that network. I've appreciated interacfting with each and every one of you.

You pansies! abandoning a site just because something "better" comes along. At least, GeckoFood still occasionally posts bread recipes and john503(DII) posts his poetry.

  • Blackhat, with his essays and his news of the news and his textoons. Did you mean to list him when you pu me twice?

Yes, those were elegant members for a more civilized age.
  • You don't need an invite for Multiply; you just join!

To make it interesting, you'll need to get yourself a few reciprocal "online buddies" or "friends"... There's no other way; you just have to ask. Someone will invite you to the (hidden) "circular refuge" group :o)

I agree with PKD's prognosis "Yes, those were elegant members for a more civilized age". I prefer Slashdot's simplicity, myself.

    1. Install linux on home machine
    2. enable remote desktop
    3. ifconfig - note external address
    4. at work http://external_address:5801/ [externaladdress]

wait for the java applet to download (that's what takes the time, the first time), then log in, click on your web browser, and surf all your favorite bookmarks, etc.

As a demo for some co-workers, I ran eclipse remotely, and it *still* ran faster than running it locally. Web browsing works fine. Just don't try it on dialup.

  • ....but really haven't add much to add or post that I haven't done elsewhere lately.
  • :)

I should post more in my Journal. Most of the time when I actually think about it, what I want to post is either full of complaints, or preachy. I figured that most folks here would rather be spared both. But I will post again soon enough. Thanks for the reminder.

    • Oh, and I didn't migrate to Multiply and I have no plans to.

Where else could I be called a cowboy because I type too fast? No where, that's where.

A computer scientist is someone who fixes things that aren't broken.
