Journal twitter's Journal: Mobile Stalking: Face Recognition Planned for Cell Phones.

Polar Rose, of of the new and controversial facial recognition companies, plans to offer their service on cell phones.

Mikkel Thagaard, Polar's vice president of business development, told The Register he was planning to let people get at this sort of information straight over their mobile phones.

He also offers some technical details and a defense of the system. The technique uses "Face prints," a 3D model generated from as few as 100 pixels of 2D face image.

... as the state will have unprecedented means to snoop on the people, citizens should be given access to those same means in order to redress the imbalance of power. "... is an illusion of privacy worth any price, even the cost of surrendering our own right to pierce the schemes of the powerful? he asks.

He might have a point. If there really is no place to hide, regulating the cameras can concentrate their power in the hands of the regulators.
