Iamthefallen's Journal: Hooray for cross-linked high-density polyethylene!

I bought a new toy yesterday, along with an abundant supply of cross-linked high-density polyethylene tubing. More commonly known as PEX.

I was not looking forward to soldering copper pipes in the crawl space, but now redoing the plumbing in the bathroom suddenly became a breeze. I got the DWV pipes installed yesterday, and can now hook into the water lines for the fixtures in about 10 minutes rather than a weekend.

While the material is extremely cheap, (I picked up 100' of 1/2" tubing for $25) the crimping tool was 175 bucks. Ouch.
