Is it safe to cook hot dogs through electrocution? If so, is it safe to eat them? If not, any suggestions to make it safe?

Hungry people at workplaces banning microwaves want to know...

Stupid question of the week!

  • are pre cooked, so it is safe to eat them cold. As for cooking, I think you would blow a breaker, the weiner is sure to be really conductive. Try it and let me know what happens! (using safey precautions and at home first)
    • I will try this as I've read about a device that used electricity to cook hot dogs way back when microwaves were called RadarRanges. It's called the "Hot Dogger" [geocities.com].

      I figure if I wire it all through a light dimmer and a 10 Amp fuse, I'll be able to see what I can do with it without setting the house on fire :-) I'll use forks for the electrodes, since I figure anything you eat with is probably going to be safe. And, just for safety's sake, no solder anywhere.

      I just hope it doesn't stink (which some Deja posts say it might), or there's no way I can use it at work. :-(

      We'll see what happens this weekend.
