katamari damacy = awesome

all you do is roll the katamari around and make it bigger as it picks up more stuff. the level design is great because it works on many levels. the world gets smaller as your katamari grows, so what towers over you at the beginning can be reduced little more than a speed bump as you roll it up. like all great games, it is simple to learn, but difficult to master. i even like the way they took a flat graphics aesthetic and applied it to the whole world. i imagine it was a trade off for the physics of katamari rolling and the fact that world objects become part of the katamari. but they didn't just admit defeat at being unable to make everything perfectly modeled. the graphics aren't fancy, but the design is good.

i should be getting psychonauts from gamefly tomorrow. i'm looking forward to giving that one a whirl.

in other news, it looks as though my cell phone has finally given up the ghost. time for a new one.

Boxcutter?

Dude, have you checked out Boxcutter yet? He's a part of that whole dubstep scene (basically reslowed-down jungle) but he's on Planet Mu so you know he's got a certain edge to him. He's got these very slippery tracks but some definitely bang explosive. "Scuff'd" and "Brood" are those types. Of course it took me two months and two distributors to finally get it but your name was one of the first I thought of when listening to it. :P

i had not checked him out, but your mention of planet mu has directed me to bleep. i must admit that this is the sort of thing i'm into. so there is oneiric on bleep for $10. we'll see how long i last against the impulse to spend more money.

in other news, it looks as though my cell phone has finally given up the ghost. time for a new one.

Mine got soaked in a rainstorm on Mt. Washington yesterday. It works, but the screen is really dark. I dismantled it and left it to dry out, which should hopefully fix it...

i can make and receive calls, but the screen is completely garbled, so i can't see my phone book, and i'm not sure if i've dialed correctly. it's great.

Psychonauts

Psychonauts is awesome. One of the funniest and most fun games I've played in a long time. It is truly under-rated, under-bought, etc. It's a shame that the company that made it is gone since it is such a good game. It's very weird, and very cool.

almost done with psychonauts now. i agree with your assessment. my wife is about halfway through it. she really digs it, too.
