Journal Tsunayoshi's Journal: Wife's stolen purse 4

Figured I would ask for some advice from the journal ring:

Wife just had her purse stolen less than 20 minutes ago. She called me, the place has a camera system, so by now she should have called the police and hopefully can get a police report. Her wallet (in the purse) had everything in it, and her car/house keys were in the purse.

So far I have had her only credit card (visa checkcard) cancelled so the bank account should be safe.

Besides getting my house locks changed, any other advice anyone could give me?

Thanks in advance.

Now I get to bring her the spare keys so she can get home...

  • Checks?

The big things are the bank account and house key, but there are some minor things she may have had in there that could be annoying if abused.

    Movie rental card? Library card?

Here's hoping they catch the thief and recover her purse.
    • Passwords or pin codes jotted down, car insurance, social security card, workplace issued IDs or keycards, AAA membership etc etc etc.

Really any service or membership card you can think of, you probably want to contact them all to give them a heads up and to see how they handle theft of cards. Since every little thing requires a SSN and other personal information, you don't really want the thief calling around fishing for more information.

Perhaps place a fraud alert [fightidentitytheft.com] just in case he does manage to get info
  • Signing up for a "watch my credit history" services later might not be so bad; anyone have recommendations? Keeping a close eye on her credit report would be pretty important.
