today as i was drifting through thoughts and links of dub, riddims, and breaks, i eventually stumbled upon an audio installation covering some of the history of the amen break. you know the one even if you think you don't.

    Some random thoughts:

    I wish sielwolf would release his essays this way :-)

    The first part of that break is the most common beat for me to pound out (with my non-trained hands) on whatever surface I feel like drumming on. Very ubiquitous. Wasn't basically that rhythm behind a lot of "the manchester sound" too? Albeit usually played by live drummers....
