...it seems that OSNews has picked up the followup series. It strikes me that the comments this time are much better thought out and even handed than the first story. Of course, some people are still repeating the same stupid mistakes. "I don't want 18 copies of a PNG loader in memory!"

I was wondering whether or not you had been contacted by developers, important figures or someone who could play a role in the creation of your ideal Linux desktop system.

I have had contact with a few developers, although you probably don't know them. I tried to get Bruce Perens' attention based on a previous conversation, but he hasn't responded. Many of them may be taking a "wait and see" attitude.

In the meantime, however, I think you'll find that some of these concepts may one day suddenly materialize

Not really concrete. Just pulling together a few volunteers and generating some interest for now. It will take a while before any sort of structure actually appears. :-)
