So where do you vacation?

It's a question that I thought didn't bug me but it came up this weekend. We got together with several relatives and while chatting some people started talking about vacation. The vacation that was mentioned was in Mexico.

Here's my little rant on Mexican vacations. This person went there purely for beach, sun, and booze. You're going to a poor country where some lame developer created a vacation spot and spending your money giving stuff to said developer. Why would someone do that?

If you want a vacation, go somewhere to expand your mind or to broaden your horizons. Don't go somewhere to sit in the sun and to have the natives cater to you.

I know that to each their own but it's just amazing to me for people to blow their money on sommething like that.
