Journal Saige's Journal: i suX0Rs at halo 2 12

last night, i had a wonderful reminder of just how much i suck at halo 2. i'm attempting to join the pms clan - the most well-known all female clan (which i've found out is not actually related to the original quake pms clan, just continuing on in the same spirit)

well, part of getting in is spending time playing in clan practices, getting to know the other girls and such. sounded great, but the actual games aren't quite as fun as expected - i found out really quickly that they're all considerably better than me. out of 13 games played while i was on team with some of the other gals, i think i managed to avoid being in last place on the team a total of 3 times - and one of those was a tie for last.

i found that even a huge win over another team isn't much fun if you only contribute 5 of the 50 kills, and have more deaths than anyone else on the team.

i had to go play with another group of people for a bit to remind myself that i can actually win some games against other people, as i was so discouraged from how things went.

i'm not certain if i'm going to even bother trying to get involved with the clan at this point, maybe i'll wait, see if i get any better at the damn game first, and try again when i might not embarass myself as much.

(oh yeah i'm feeling discouraged... can you tell?)

  • Don't get discouraged. Someone has to be at the bottom.

If they're 'in the same spirit', you're in good company.

I have a lot of good memories of the Quake PMS clan. A well behaved lot they were. They didn't drop into my CTF servers and stir up trouble. They maturely dealt with males who couldn't quite control themselves (you know how boys online can be).

You'll get better more quickly IMO playing with this PMS clan and losing rather than playing with people with less or equal skills. I always lo
    • Yeah, I've already received some encouraging sentiments from a couple people, letting me know that I just need to do my best, and be friendly and have a good attitude and all that, and I should have no problem making it in. And if I do, I'm sure that I'll learn a lot from being a member.

I have been getting better just by playing the matchmade games, since I do get people better than me just as often as I get people worse. I have been learning and improving already - it just seems that being around people
  • we aren't all male or female, and you don't have to be good. :-) What's your GamerTag? Mine is Kai TechnoLust
    • Hehe, thanks, but I already do have a clan I'm part of - Bullets 4 Love. It happens to be co-workers and their friends, and I've been playing with the group of people for a while now, and had fun. They just don't actually do any clan stuff, and my competitive nature just pushes me to do more. Which is why I'm going for such a known clan.

You're more than welcome to friend me - my gamertag is GibGirl. Heck, anyone reading this can friend me if you want - just make sure to include a voice message letting
    • Friend request sent, did it this morning before work. :)
      • Thanks. I'll accept next time I'm on.
        • Not sure if you'll see this, since it's a bit old, but I just figured I'd reiterate the msg I sent on Xbox Live yesterday...

          I'm so sorry!

I swear none of those annoyong people were on my friends list - the only one that was on my list was Medusa PMS, and then I'm guessing people off of her friends list started showing up, and many of them were quite obnoxious - I know I muted a couple in the process.

I've never had any of the PMS gals on my friends list come into a game I was playing, so I didn't expect it
  • I pretty much only play the big team battle games. It's fun working toward a goal and worrying less about #kills and #deaths. I often end up with a lot of deaths because I do some of the dirty work, like charging headfirst into their base to throw them off (maybe grab the flag and get outside before dieing). Too bad there are still a lot of people that think its fun to betray their teammates or quit at the slightest sign of trouble.

What time zone are you in? I am in EST/EDT, usually only play between
    • I play all the game types - Rumble Pit, H2H, Double Team, Big Team, etc. I actually don't have as much team experience as I'd like, and need to really work on how to function best as part of a team (as in not rushing into things so quickly and sticking with teammates). But how else to learn but play?

I'm usually on in the evenings PST, which is probably going to be a bit too late to catch you online, especially since 8:30, when I most often start playing, is 11:30 your time. I do tend to get more gaming

Always draw your curves, then plot your reading.
