Linux Drivers for Silitek's SM-1000 IR Remote? 2

TheDoc asks: "Does anyone know if drivers exist for Silitek's remote input devices? Specifically their SM-1000 IR remote (w/ pointing device), which is one of the best remotes I've used (under Windows). Silitek is listed as an IRDA member but I don't see anything in the kernel that I think would work. Suggestions anyone? "

  • Last time I was looking through the preferences of XMMS (http://www.xmms.org) it had support for you to change mp3s using your IR remote controller

LIRC may do exactly what you want. Unfortunately, it is a generic tool, and all remotes have different buttons. Therefore, you have to spend the time to hook the buttons up the apps you want. Painful, yes, but a good, good kind of pain. http://fsinfo.cs.uni-sb.de/~columbus/lirc/ [uni-sb.de]
