Journal Journal: My Journal...

Welcome to my Journal... I've been meaning to start posting here regularly for a while, however I just haven't had the motivation to do so.

The current world wide situation deserves several comments here (and yes, I know it's all been said before, but not by me!).

The current actions of the governemnts of the "coalition of the willing" (COW) are causing more international tension then the fact that Saddam may (or may not have) weapons of mass destruction.

Not only are they causing tensions between countries who support/dont support a US lead invasion of Iraq, they are causing tensions between political parties (this is a good thing however) and an uprising of protest/anti-war support against the governments forming the COW.

There is now talk of Australia (my home) buying into the Son of Star Wars project (wasn't this project canned in the 90's?). We need to modernise our defense?.

Should not the right to this defense be extended to all countries on earth? Should not every nation have the opportunity to defend itself? Iraq has recently offered to destroy it's missile stocks. These missiles reach (from memory) 100km's from the launch site (even less with a payload on board). This gives Iraq the ability to defend itself and at worst fire a few missiles at Kuwait (and other neighbours). IF this was to happen, then yes a war on Iraq would be supported by many more. However we are buying into a project which allows us to destroy an incoming missile from a satellite?

just my thoughts for the day... bad luck if you dont agree with them... good for you if you do!
